ecosystem is an eco-company certified by French public authorities to collect, remediate and recycle household and industrial electrical and electronic waste (e-waste). ecosystem also advocates for the repair and reuse of these appliances to extend their lifespan. The teams at ecosystem coordinate and oversee several industry players on a daily basis, from distributors, local authorities, waste managers and community networks to e-waste shippers and processors.
ecosystem’s business has been growing exponentially over the last several years due to a widening array of waste collection methods and expanded operations related to appliance reuse. Since ecosystem contracts out almost all of its services, its purchasing department plays a pivotal role at the center of this recent growth.
To meet these new challenges and upgrade an aging sourcing solution, ecosystem’s purchasing department began a consultation process. They were looking for a different system that would fulfill its specific requirements on managing multi-quote calls for tender and collecting large amounts of data on all of its suppliers, mainly in the recycling industry, such as information on site organization, reception capacity and regulatory compliance.
“Before now, we held one or two consultations per year. But our business grew so quickly, we couldn’t keep up. We began looking for new partners to both handle a large number of calls for tender and optimize our time reviewing bids,” explains ecosystem’s Purchasing Manager Damien Lizé.
After looking at many different solutions on the market, ecosystem decided to put the project in the hands of software publisher GEP and its integrator Fluxym. GEP stood out for its ability to handle advanced sourcing processes on a unified SaaS platform, thereby ensuring data integrity and simplifying data analysis. What ultimately tipped the scale for ecosystem’s purchasing department were GEP’s powerful functionalities that can handle significant volumes of data, and its user-friendly scenario creation tool.
